Facebook Content Monetization is a new monetization tool that combines major previous monetization tools into one. With only a slightly different criteria, if and when approved for the CMP, you get to monetize your Facebook Reels, Story, videos, photos and text posts.
What an interesting monetization program you'll say! But, wait. That's not all.

Content monetization program comes as a complete replacement for, but upgraded form of Facebook Performance Bonus Program plus In-stream Ads and Ads on Reels. PB was introduced around mid 2023 and could be activated and work separatetly from On-demand Ads. But, that is not the case with content monetization.
Similar to all other Facebook monetization tools, Performance Bonus Program and later, early in 2024; content monetization program was based on invitation.
NOTE
Only a select content creators who were already monetizing through in-stream ads were invited to apply for and enrolled for the Performance Bonus program.
Although Facebook contact monetization is still in its beta phase, all invited content creators only have till the end of August, 2025 to apply, enrol and get approved to monetize their contents on Facebook through the program.

In this article, for the most part, we will discuss contact monetization including monetization requirements, creators criteria, page eligibility, content strategy and facebook content monetization policy. But, for clarity, we might discuss, briefly; other Facebook monetization tools that directly impact this new monetization program.
Now, let us begin.
What is Content Monetization Program?
Content Monetization Program is a new monetization tool introduced to replace Performance Bonus, Ads on Reels and In-stream Ads such that by activating Content Monetization, your Facebook Page access to In-stream Ads, Ads on Reels and Performance Bonuses are automatically moved into Content Monetization Program.
Through Content Monetization Program, your Page's video and reels contents continue to monetize and with that, your Performance Bonuses continue to accrue.
But then, there are a few added monetization opportunities that make content monetization more sweet and they are;
- Story Monetization: your story posts are monetized.
- Photo Posts Monetization: photos uploaded on your page are monetized.
- Group Activity Monetization: activity performed in public groups (as your Page) such as sharing your Page's posts to public groups, are monetized.
- Text Posts Monetization: text posts are now also monetizable under the new content monetization rules.
Eligibility Criteria for Facebook Page Monetization
Before a Page can be eligible for Facebook content monetization, the Page has to be;
- Free of any copyright violations or sanctions therefrom.
- In any of the eligible regions as outlined in the official list of countries eligible for Facebook Content Monetization.
- In full compliance to the Facebook Content Monetization policy.
- Abide by Facebook Community Standard Rules.
- In compliance to the Facebook terms of service.
- If the Page has multiple admins from different regions, additional criteria may need to be met. For example; requirements needed to be met for creators in Philippines may be slightly eased than for those creators in Nigeria. And those in Pakistan may experience slightly tougher criteria than those in India. Generally speaking, creators in USA, Canada and the UK enjoy the most basic criteria.
NOTE:
Since Content Monetization Program is based on invitation, even if your Page has met all the requirements, your Page may still not be invited.
Although, there are things you could do to fast-track your Page's invitation to the content monetization program.
What is Performance Bonus Program?
Facebook Performance Bonus program, similar to Facebook Content Monetization Program is an invitation-only program that gives creators the opportunity to earn money on interactions on their public Facebook posts including videos, text and picture/image posts, but with the exception of Reels and Stories.
NOTE:
In-stream ads, Ads on Reels and Performance Bonus program monetization will stop by 31 August 2025. See Official Facebook Notice here for details.
Meanwhile, if you are not already invited for the content monetization program, you need to make haste because the last day that your Facebook Page will be able to earn from any of In-stream ads, Ads on Reels and Performance Bonus monetization programs will be 31 August 2025.
Facebook Page Eligibility for Performance Bonus Program
Yes. I know that in the next few months, eligibility criteria for Performance Bonus program would no longer be useful because Performance Bonus Program is ending soon anyways.
But, for now, knowing this might help you get invitation form for content monetization program faster.
By simply doing these, your Page would be eligible for content monetization soon;
- Focus on creating engaging contents - contents that most of your audience would interact with.
- Try to push or upload more of original contents on your Page including Facebook Story.
- Be sure that your Page is in compliance with Facebook partner monetization policies.
- Have at least, one Page admin that is in any of the regions that is eligible for acceptance into Facebook Content Monetization program.
- Ensure that your Page has no current copyright violations or sanctions therefrom.
- Finally, your Page must have a minimum of 10000 followers. Although, the 10000 followers is subject to subsequent reviews by Facebook.
NOTE:
Facebook no longer onboard creators into the Performance Bonus program. Once you have met all the eligibility criteria listed from above, your Page will receive invitation for Content Monetization instead of Performance Bonus program.
Facebook Content Monetization Requirements
As I have earlier stated, there is only a slight difference in between Facebook Content Monetization and the previous creator studio monetization tools hence, the requirements remains the same.
For Content Monetization requirements, just ensure you meet Eligibility Criteria for Facebook Page Monetization stated here and then, the Facebook Page Eligibility for Performance Bonus Program and you are good to go.

What is Facebook Payment Structure for Content Monetization Like?
If you have been earning royalties from Facebook since the days of Creators studio In-stream ads, you should know that not much as changed in Facebook's payment structure.
Agreed, payment schedules may change every few months, sometimes it comes earliers, othertimes it comes later. But, that is about it.
With that said, payment schedules for Content Monetization remain the same as with other similar monetization tools.
However, if we are comparing how much revenue can be made per million views in Content Monetization, I would say that it is a little bit more complex than the previous monetization tools.
To make the case even worse, Facebook does not yet provide creators with metrics that allow individual creators objectively calculate his own revenue.
Regardless, in the coming weeks, we shall publish another article detailing Content Monetization payment structure based on the aggregates of a select 10 of our customers' page.
Be sure to come back for it.
After I Switched to CMP, Monetization Stopped for My Page
If your Facebook Page got demonetized after you switched to Content Monetization Program, it can only be because of one of or, a few of these;
- Unoriginal Content Issue: if your Page has several unoriginal contents prior to setting up contents monetization, because Facebook rewards strictly original contents through the content monetization program, your Page would be demonetized pending further manual reviews or until you resolved the Page's unoriginal content issues.
- Payout Issue: if your Page was already monetizing via either of in-stream ads, ads on reels, performance bonus and one or all of them is connected to a payout account that has been disabled and has restricted monetization prior to setting up your content monetization. Even if the later was setup on another payout account that is good and fine, monetization would still stop. Learn how to resolve disabled payout account here.
- Pending Sanctions: if your Page was still serving restricted monetization due to copyright violations before you fill Content Monetization interest form and got approved for the program, your Page would remain demonetized until the restricted monetization term is complete and after then, your Page shall continue to monetize through content monetization.
- Possible Payout Issue: if the details you used for your payout account during content monetization setup identifies an entity from the list of countries not eligible for content monetization program, your Page's monetization would be pending or pre-enrolled until that issue is resolved.
Although there are several other reasons for which your Page may be demonetized after setting up Content Monetization, the ones listed from above are the most common issues we have encountered thus far and resolved.

What Pays More: Fb Content Monetization or Performance Bonus Program?
Considering what I have seen so far from customer's pages' performance revenue-wise, there is no straight winner in this regard yet.
For some customers, CMP was a game changer while for others, they wished they never left the PB because their earnings from content monetization were not so appealing until a few tweaks here and there plus extra efforts were introduced.
In the end, Content Monetization started picking up but not without the extra efforts.
In-stream Ads or Content Monetization - What Pays More?
Hands down, in-stream ads or On-demand Ads is by far more profitable than any other royalty program from Facebook.
In-stream ads was not just profitable, it was less strict and more transparent. Any content creator can actually calculate, based on his engagement, how much his take-home pay was going to be by the payment month.
